St. Augustine and Zoysia grass are not suitable for re-planting rights. However, the grass can be over-seeded in the green landscape throughout the year.
Preparation and planting
Grass reseeding season soon calm again in the fall of a fine irregular structure. Bermuda grass is actively growing non-compete weeds, but if planted too late, delayed growth at low temperature to produce a bad setup. The best time to reseed the lawn should be October 1 and November 15. During this period, the grass growth has slowed with cooler temperatures, but warm enough to promote germination of the seeds of good grass weeds only.
Ryegrass seed germination is reduced in temperature, while getting less than 63 F. To determine the temperature of the soil and stick cooking thermometer, just made a hole with a screwdriver. Explore the many parts of the lawn.
Want to vertical rock, and power rake mow your lawn as low as possible to help eliminate or reduce the thatch of Bermuda. This will ensure good seed to soil contact. Planting the seeds of rye performed exactly as your planting grass for new sod. Apply grass seed with a spreader or seeder and only half of your seed in one direction and stop. Then use the second half of the seeds in the other direction. This technique provides a well used and uniformly covered with a seed bed.
If annual ryegrass over-seeding, be sure to plant 10 to 20 pounds per 1000 square feet. If you are using perennial ryegrass (recommended), you should be planted 10-15 pounds per 1000 square feet of planting at a rate above the recommended levels, which can cause seedling competitive and certainly more crowded vulnerable to attack by disease.
When the seeds are planted, they need to be moist to germinate properly. Primarily wear thin bark mulch, compost, manure or sand to help keep moisture in. Do not use peat moss because it is difficult to retain moisture and breathe.
